Built in WPF for a Microsoft Surface Tablet
Description:
I was the UX Lead for the Sterling (SureID) fingerprint kiosk project that has been launched in over 800 UPS stores across the country. I conducted research, created wireframes, illustrations, user flows, prototypes, and design comps for the entire project. I also took part in design reviews for building out the form factor that would house the surface pro and fingerprint system. The Sterling (SureID) fingerprint kiosk is mostly used for individuals that need to be screened by the FBI. It’s was a way to quickly and conveniently have fingerprints scanned and sent to the FBI for background checks.
Updated User Experience and Design
I was tasked with taking the existing RAPIDGate registration station experience on a bulky kiosk and updating it so it could support a smaller form factor. We had built a taller thinner form factor, but ultimately it took up too much square footage. We originally started with the single fingerprint scanner in the early stages before partnering with a full hand fingerprinting manufacture.

Comps
I took the wireframes and started to build out the first iteration of the design where we used the single fingerprinting system. Below are some example screenshots of the UI.
Illustrations for Single Fingerprint Reader
I created illustrations for the instructions that highlighted how the user should interact with the device.
Illustrations for Full Hand Fingerprint Reader
We upgraded our technology and started using a full hand fingerprint reader, so we needed to update our graphics and UI to support the new technology. Here are some updated illustrations of the slap scanner.

The company was purchased by Sterling. I updated the branding for the UI and here are the production versions of the UI.
Product Launch
After the 2-year project, Sterling (SureID) launched the Fingerprinting Registration Station in over 800 UPS stores across the nation. I am very proud of the work I did on this project and it was great to be a part of it all. Here are a few photos of the system in the UPS stores.
